Looking for a Kill Devil Hills Beach Access?

The town of Kill Devil Hills touts itself as the land of beginnings. (That is, if you believe all the retro ‘town plates’ passing by on the front bumpers of many locals’ cars). Why not begin your own search for great beaches here in Kill Devil Hills?

We are as proud of our beginnings in aviation as we are proud of our fresh family-friendly, public beaches. The map of Kill Devil Hills beach access points is crowded with every combination of amenities to make your day at the beach simple and convenient. Use the symbols to locate bath houses, lifeguard stands, handicap parking lots, showers, pet-friendly beaches, etc. The list goes on, and it all adds up to family beaches that are open year round.

Sandwiched in between Nags Head and Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills will sneak up on you while driving. The businesses you pass will not look very different whether you are driving on either the bypass or beach road (that’s how locals refer to US-158 and the Virginia Dare Trail).

What that means to you is convenience. Kill Devil Hills is convenient to most any attraction you are trying to see while visiting the Outer Banks.

Are you making plans to:

  • Visit the Wright Brothers Memorial?
  • Climb Jockey’s Ridge?
  • See the Lost Colony outdoor drama?
  • Visit Duck village?

No problem. All are a convenient drive when you are in Kill Devil Hills.

A little geography lesson here too. Consider a bird’s eye view of our island (ok, technically a peninsula). The widest part of our island is in Kill Devil Hills. At about four miles wide, the topography change means you can take advantage of sight-seeing deep in the maritime forests or boat docks in Colington Harbor in addition to waterfront areas on the sound or the beach.
